History:
The Floreskomodo.com website has been developed by the Swisscontact WiSATA project, based on an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. The goal was to improve international and national promotion functions, by providing accurate information about the West Flores Tourism Destination on a information and promotion website and offering micro, small and medium enterprises in the tourism sector of West Flores a low cost opportunity to promote their business on the internet. This resulted until the end of 2008 to a total number of 33 tourism stakeholders promoting their services on the website. In terms of visitor figures, the website attracts more than 1500 unique visitors from the target markets each month. At the end of the WiSATA Project (in December 2008), the website was handed over to the newly established West Flores Website Association.

The West Flores Website Association:
The association consists of seven highly dedicated and capable representatives of the private tourism sector in West Flores - Labuan Bajo. They represent Hotel/Restaurant owners, Dive Operators as well as Tour Operators and are highly committed to maintain the Website, as stated in the associations’ vision.

Increase of visitor numbers in the tourist destination of West Flores: Komodo & So Much More trough the operation of the most attractive, accurate and comprehensive destination promotion website. Increase of subscriber trough the provision of professional services and tangible benefits.

In order to reach and realize this vision, the association has defined the following mission statements:
  • to maintain the floreskomodo.com website as a high quality information and stakeholder promotion website by guaranteeing regular updates and future improvements according to new trends and technologies
  • to provide attractive, accurate, and practical information about the tourism destination West Flores
  • to increase the number of website visitors
  • to offer a low cost opportunity to micro, small and medium tourism enterprises to promote their business and services on the internet
  • to establish good relations and cooperation with other tourism sector associations and organizations in West Flores


The association includes the members of the board (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Up-date Service Providers), and Website users who are willing to participate actively in the further improvement and maintenance of the floreskomodo.com website.
These people are all very committed to provide you with useful and updated information about West Flores – and therefore make the planning of your visit as convenient as possible.
