Ferries
There is daily car and passenger ferry service between Labuan Bajo, West Flores to Sape, Sumbawa. These ferries also provide the main backbone for the transport of goods and products between West Flores and the rest of Indonesia.

PT. PELNI - the national passenger ship operators sail large ocean-going vessels all over Indonesia. PELNI serves the route between Bali and West Flores via Lombok and Sumbawa on a 14 days round trip basis. Twice a month PELNI sails from Makassar, Sulawesi to Labuan Bajo, West Flores. Most PELNI shops offer several classes of accommodation with a limited number of private cabins offering an international standard of accommodation.

In coastal cities of West Flores, such as Labuan Bajo, numerous excursions boats are available for charter. Depending on the boat, vessels are suitable for day trips to local islands or overnight programs to Komodo.

West Flores has a large fleet of live- aboard boats to serve visitors to the area. Customers can live on the boat, enjoy their meals, and undertake diving and snorkeling expeditions form these ships.

  • The ferry harbor on Lombok’s west coast is at Lembar located about one hour drive from the capital of Mataram.
  • The ferry harbor on Lombok’s east coast is at Labuhan Lombok a 3-4 hours drive from Mataram.
  • The ferry harbor on Sumbawa’s west coast is at Alas, about 1.5 hours drive from Sumbawa Besar.
  • The ferry harbor on Sumbawa’s east coast is at Sape about 1-2 hours drive from Bima.
